Like any chargeable item or electronic, both electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles need an EV charger to keep the battery charged. EVs require charging in order to have enough power to function, just like a cell phone.
EV charging is the process of supplying power to the vehicle's battery using EV charging equipment. To charge an EV, a charging station connects to the power grid. Electric vehicle supply equipment is what EV charging stations are known as technically (EVSE).
EV owners have the option of charging at home, in public, or at their place of employment. Through a connector or socket, an EV charger transfers electric current from the grid to the electric vehicle.
To power its electric motor, an electric vehicle stores this electricity in a sizable battery pack. The connector of an EV charger is connected to an electric vehicle's inlet, which is analogous to a conventional vehicle's gas tank, using a charging cable. DC electricity is the only type that EV batteries can receive.
Since the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has recently decided to permit those concerned to upgrade electricity supply for the purpose, owners of electric vehicles (EVs) may now store additional electric equipment to charge their vehicles at their homes or places of business.
The state-owned power provider has granted EV owners permission to install separate charging devices in their homes by executing the Electricity Distribution Bylaw. The bylaw was approved at the NEA board meeting two weeks ago, and the provision is now in effect.
Provisions in the bylaw encourage the development of infrastructure for EV charging. The authority will now allow any private company to install the charging stations within commercial buildings and public spaces, in addition to allowing individual residents to do so.
Transformers from NEA will be given to the service providers in order to establish a charging station with a 200 kVA capacity. The tenants have also been given permission to use individual electrical metres. The NEA has the authority to cut off a home owner's power supply line if it is discovered that they are charging their renters unreasonable fees.
The Nepal EV Charger Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
For the first time ever in Nepal, Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd., the authorised distributor of MG Motors Nepal, has introduced the tiniest smart electric vehicle charger in the entire world.
It is specifically created for the world's environmentally and spatially aware EV owners.
The EO small requires no Type B RCD and offers an easy electrical installation. It also includes Integral 6mA DC leakage detection. Based on your home power input connection, the EO mini's adjustable 6 amp to 32 amp power supply is also available.
One of the smallest products available, measuring 175MM X 125MM X 95MM. EO small features a 7.2kW power rating and a tethered (black only) universal socket (Single Phase).
A one-year guarantee is included with the tiny chargerAmazon, DHL, and Tesco are just a few of the biggest companies and fleet operators in the globe using EO's technology, which is also available in over 35 other nations.
In Ratnapark, NEA has launched its first EV charging station. On the grounds of Ratnapark's Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), an EV charging station has been formally inaugurated. The station was formally inaugurated by Pampha Bhusal, minister of energy, water resources, and irrigation.
Large cities should encourage the use of electric vehicles and increase the efficiency of the energy sector. The NEA is pushing a drive to install quick vehicle charging stations on the nation's roadways. To assist with this, 51 charging stations are being installed across the country.
Additionally, NEA has a contract to build charging stations that will be used by the Nepal Police and the Armed Police.
In each charging station it builds, the authority will install a 142 kW charger, a 50 kVA power supply transformer, and an online charging system. Depending on the location, fast charging 60/60 KW DC and 22 KW AC chargers will be available at the charging stations.
