Toshiba launches high performance Ethernet PCIe bridge IC. The TC9563XBG is a brand-new Ethernet bridge IC from Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH.
It is designed to be used in industrial machinery as well as automobile zonal architecture, infotainment, telematics, or gateways. Two 10 Gbps Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) supporting a variety of interfaces, including USXGMII, XFI, SGMII, and RGMII, are built into the new bridge IC.
Both ports enable low-latency IEEE802.1 time-sensitive networking (TSN) for synchronous processing and Ethernet IEEE802.1 audio/video bridging (AVB) for real-time processing. On PCIe devices, the ports additionally allow "simple" single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV).
A PCIe Gen 3 switch with three external ports is included in the TC9563XBG for connection with the host-controller SoC and other PCIe-equipped devices, such as 5G modem modules.
Depending on the configuration, the downstream ports of the PCIe switch can connect with one or two lanes to PCIe-capable devices, while the upstream port of the PCIe switch can handle up to four lanes (32GT/s) for connection with the host SoC.
