A computer can be connected to one or more peripheral devices using the serial expansion bus standard known as Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe or PCI-E).
Compared to parallel buses like PCI and PCI-X, PCIe offers lower latency and faster data transfer speeds. Diodes provides PCIe-to-PCI / PCI X Bridge products with forward or reverse bridging capabilities.
An efficient turn-key bridging solution between PCI Express Host on the primary side and PCI/PCI X Peripheral Devices on the secondary interface is offered by “Forward” (PCIe-to-PCI/PCI X) mode.
The Global PCIe to PCI Bridge Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Toshiba launches high performance Ethernet PCIe bridge IC. The TC9563XBG is a brand-new Ethernet bridge IC from Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH.
It is designed to be used in industrial machinery as well as automobile zonal architecture, infotainment, telematics, or gateways. Two 10 Gbps Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) supporting a variety of interfaces, including USXGMII, XFI, SGMII, and RGMII, are built into the new bridge IC.
Both ports enable low-latency IEEE802.1 time-sensitive networking (TSN) for synchronous processing and Ethernet IEEE802.1 audio/video bridging (AVB) for real-time processing. On PCIe devices, the ports additionally allow “simple” single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV).
A PCIe Gen 3 switch with three external ports is included in the TC9563XBG for connection with the host-controller SoC and other PCIe-equipped devices, such as 5G modem modules.
Depending on the configuration, the downstream ports of the PCIe switch can connect with one or two lanes to PCIe-capable devices, while the upstream port of the PCIe switch can handle up to four lanes (32GT/s) for connection with the host SoC.
Zone-based architecture, which calls for real-time transmission between the zones using multi-gigabit Ethernet communication, is the direction automotive networks are moving in. As a result, the dual 10 Gbps AVB and TSN enabled Ethernet interfaces on the TC9563XBG make it the perfect choice for next-generation automotive networking.
