A red light camera, often known as a red light running camera, is a form of traffic enforcement device that takes pictures of cars that enter intersections after the traffic signal governing the intersection has turned red.
The snapshot is proof that helps police enforce traffic laws by automatically photographing cars that run red lights. Typically, the camera is activated when a car reaches the junction after the traffic light has turned red and passes the stop bar.
The Global Red-Light Cameras market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Development of an automated Red Light Violation Detection System (RLVDS) for Indian vehicles. In order to primarily address the issues of road safety and security, Integrated Traffic Management Systems (ITMS) are now being installed in several cities around India. The ITMS has an automated Red Light Violation Detection System (RLVDS).
In the current work, a whole system for automatically compiling a list of all stop-line-violating vehicle images from video snapshots taken by roadside surveillance cameras has been devised and built for security purposes.
Prior to analysing potential occlusions over the stop line of a traffic light, the system generates adaptive background pictures for each camera view. It then subtracts collected images from the corresponding background images.
The created system was able to correctly monitor 92% of photos of vehicles with infractions on the stop-line in a “Red” traffic light during 24-hour operations in a real-world test scenario.
