RUGGED CMOS CAMERAS MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Ricoh has unveiled the WG series, a tough, water-resistant digital compact camera for use in industrial, outdoor, and underwater photography.

 

The RICOH WG-80, a robust, lightweight, and waterproof small digital camera that captures high-definition (HD) video and shoots super-high-resolution images, was unveiled today by Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation.

 

The new camera makes it simple to take pictures and videos of adventures on land, under the sea, or in the demanding environment of an industrial job site thanks to its 5x optical zoom lens, which covers the range of 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to roughly 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format), and its large, outdoor-friendly wide-frame LCD monitor.

 

The RICOH WG-80 has a built-in ring light that can be adjusted for brightness. The camera is ideal for low-light and macro photography, enabling extreme close-ups of coral while snorkelling as well as detailed shots of small parts and components on job sites.

 

Six LED macro lights placed around the circumference of the lens barrel provide illumination intensity that is twice as strong as its predecessor, the WG-70. A self-portrait assistance mode on the ring light can also be used to take selfies.

 

With a high-performance imaging engine and a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with about 16 effective megapixels, the RICOH WG-80 produces incredibly high-resolution still photographs and HD video clips. In order to prevent shaky photos and videos across all applications, it has three levels of anti-shake protection.
