In order to decarbonize the Sakhalin Region, Rosatom, a Russian nuclear energy company, will work with other industry partners on hydrogen fuel cell transportation.
A memorandum of agreement on this collaboration was specifically signed by the Rusatom Overseas subsidiary of Rosatom, KAMAZ, Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and Sakhalin Region Development Corporation.
According to Rosatom, it is aggressively working to create hydrogen transportation projects in the Far East. Other parts of Russia are included in this as well.
The company believes that hydrogen technology in particular is very promising for reaching the decarbonization goals of the Sakhalin Region. They will also talk about introducing environmentally friendly hydrogen fuel cell transportation to the designated region.
