    ISRO’s Scramjet Engine Technology Demonstrator has successfully flown. Satellites are now propelled into orbit by multi-staged satellite launch vehicles that can only be used once (expendable).

    Some of the technological challenges faced by ISRO during the development of the Scramjet engine include the design and development of the Hypersonic engine air intake, the supersonic combustor, the development of materials that can withstand very high temperatures, computational tools to simulate hypersonic flow, ensuring engine performance and operability across a wide range of flight speeds, proper thermal management, and engine ground testing.

     

    India is the fourth country to showcase Scramjet Engine flight testing.
