Briquetters, or briquetting presses as they are also called, are metal recycling machines that compress loose metal chips into compact briquettes that are easy to handle and efficiently to be melted. Metso's briquetters offering consists of two ranges, Lindemann EtaBriq briquetters and N-Series NSP briquetters.
The briquetting process primarily involves drying, grinding, sieving, compacting, and cooling. The components of a typical briquetting unit are preprocessing equipment; material handling equipment; and briquetting press.
Metal briquettes offer numerous advantages: optimized storage and more efficient transportation through volume reduction. The briquetting process for metals also enables the recovery of expensive cooling lubricants, residual oils and emulsions, which are then fed back into the cooling or lubrication circuit.
They have a higher practical thermal value and much lower ash content (2-10% compare to 20-40% in coal). In fact, they are 40% more efficient, as well as hotter and longer lasting than Firewood. This greater efficiency can be attributed to their low moisture and density.
Global scrap metal Briquitter market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Metso presses turn metals into compact briquettes. The press is designed to increase metal recovery and metering accuracy and to reduce burn-off.Helsinki, Finland-based Metsoâs N Series NSP briquetting presses turn steel, aluminium, cast iron and other metals into a compact form for handling and transporting.
Firmly packed, high-density briquettes are designed to increase metal recovery by enabling more accurate metering and reducing burn-off during melting. The single-ram presses are equipped with a constant feeding system and a programmable logic controller (PLC).
N Series briquetting presses also have an operating system with a remote diagnosis option for support from the Metso service team. Metso N Series NSP briquetting presses make use of high specific pressures designed to enable the pressing of stable and solid briquettes and simultaneous fluid extraction.
The high-density briquettes made with the NSP briquetting presses improve processing, enhance efficiency and speed up logistics. The briquettes are easier to handle and meter when remelting.
They increase metal yield by cutting burn-off loss. The briquettes also reduce volume and thus result in lower storage and transportation costs," says Krischan Wolters, product manager of shears and balers in Europe, Metso.
