This enables compatibility between integrated circuits with various voltage requirements, such as TTL and CMOS. Level translators offer a connection between parts that run at various voltage levels. It provides both unidirectional and bidirectional high-speed level, logic-level, and smart card level translators.

GLOBAL SD CARD LEVEL TRANSLATOR IC MARKET   SIZE AND FORECAST

The global SD card level translator IC market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.

    NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Launch of The NVT4858 by NXP. It is a bidirectional dual voltage level translator with auto direction control that complies with SD 3.0. It is intended to interface between a host with a supply voltage of 1.08 V to 1.95 V and a memory or SIM card operating between 1.65 V and 3.6 V signal levels.

    SD 3.0 SDR104, SDR50, DDR50, SDR25, SDR12, and SD 2.0 High-Speed (50 MHz) and Default-Speed (25 MHz) modes are all supported by the device.

The device contains strong ESD safeguards, built-in EMI filters, and an auto-enable/disable mechanism tied to the VCCB supply pin (IEC 61000-4-2, level 4). Additionally, this device supports the SD and SIM card combo sockets’ CLK and two data lines for the SIM card voltage level translator.

According to Nexperia, its Secure Digital (SD) card level translator IC is the smallest in the industry. The NXS0506UP is 40 percent smaller than earlier 20-bump devices and is housed in a 16-bump wafer-level chip-scale packaging with a 0.35-mm pitch.

The device acts as an interface between a host with a nominal supply voltage of 1.1 V to 1.95 V and a memory card that operates at a voltage range of 1.7 V to 3.6 V.

The SD 3.0 compatible bi-directional, dual-voltage level translator from Nexperia NXS506UP includes an inbuilt auto-direction control, an EMI filter, and IEC 61000-4-2 ESD safety. It is intended to work with data rates up to 104 Mbits/s and clock frequencies up to 208 MHz.

According to Nexperia, the SD card level translator also has integrated pull-up and pull-down resistors to lower the cost of the BOM. The devices are touted to be simple to operate due to swappable DATA and CMD channels that have no functional impact and offer direct connectivity to host CPU/SOC ASICs.
