Senegal's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), or strategy to meet the objectives outlined in the Paris Agreement, calls for a 5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors. Priorities include lowering generation costs by decreasing reliance on imported liquid fuels and expanding access to electricity, especially in rural areas.
A form of transportation that runs on electricity is known as an electric vehicle (EV).
Electric cars and trucks use an electric motor that is powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel cell, as opposed to traditional vehicles that use a gasoline (petrol) or diesel-powered engine. because they don't emit toxins, they are environmentally beneficial. less repairs because of an effective electric motor improved performance
The Senegal Electric Vehicle Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Senegal will launch services for all-electric buses.
Together with its partners Keolis and Fonsis, infrastructure investor Meridiam is putting into action a significant bus project in Africa. The concession agreement that has just been signed includes a total investment for running and maintaining a public transportation system in Dakar, the city of Senegal, that only uses electric buses.
Buses on BRT lines go in their own, structurally separate lanes, in contrast to some ordinary bus routes. At least 18.3 kilometres of BRT lanes are planned for Dakar, making the buses less prone to delays caused by traffic, even during rush hour.
Modern express buses, according to Meridiam, will shorten travel times and improve reliability of public transportation in addition to enhancing comfort and safety.Although the French investor claims âMeridiam signs the contract for the first electric bus in Africa in Dakar,â electric buses are already up and running in different parts of Africa â though indeed not yet on this scale. BYD took orders for electric buses in Cape Town
