The Republic of Seychelles, sometimes known as Seychelles, is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. Victoria, its largest and capital city, is located 1,500 kilometres (800 nautical miles) east of the continent of Africa. The Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and the French overseas territories of Mayotte and Réunion are close by.
To the south and east, respectively, are the Maldives and the Chagos Archipelago, which is controlled by the United Kingdom as the British Indian Ocean Territory. It is the least populous independent African nation.
In order to build local capacity and combine it with firsthand knowledge of the transformation of e-mobility through the introduction of electric buses, Seychelles officially launched its Electric Mobility Project. The project’s goal is to get the country ready for the development of a National Electric Mobility strategy.
The Seychelles Electric Mobility Project is working toward achieving these objectives, helping the government hasten the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and connecting the use of renewable energy for EV charging.
Depending on the power connection’s capacity rating and monthly consumption, the price of electricity in the Seychelles is reasonable. Tarication encourages economical electricity use because it rises gradually with monthly consumption. It would be preferable to employ differentiated taxation for EV charging to encourage the usage of EVs rather than the use of conventional automobiles.
The Seychelles EV Charger Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Neighbourhood fast chargers for electric vehicles are now available in Victoria City.
As part of a plan to increase EV infrastructure around the city, the City of Victoria has launched its first neighbourhood fast charging station for EVs in Victoria West.
The first of many fast charging stations coming to Victoria neighbourhoods are two 50 kilowatt direct current fast chargers that have begun operating in the Bay Street parking lot at Vic West Park.
As part of the city’s Electric Vehicle and Electric Mobility Strategy, the city will install 30 EV fast chargers in neighbourhoods near multi-family housing, such as apartments, over the next five years to assist the transition to electric and make EV charging more accessible for everyone.
The City expresses its gratitude to the Province of British Columbia for providing financial support for this initiative through the CleanBC Go Electric Public Charger Program, which is run by the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation.
