SFP is a next-generation, small-footprint, serial-to-serial, multi-rate optical transceiver that is frequently used in storage-area networks and 8.5 GbE to 11 GbE data transports (SAN).
It is a modified version of the standard SFP optical transceiver with enhancement interface specified in SFF-8074i, SFP with a comparable size and compliant with SFF-8472 (digital diagnostic interface for optical transceivers),
which enables the end user to keep track of the SFP’s real-time parameters, such as temperature, laser bias current, optical output power, and transceiver supply voltage.
Compared to the 10-Gigabit small form-factor pluggable module (XFP) form factor, which was already smaller and used less power than the XPAK, the SFP module form factor is roughly 30% smaller, consumes less power, requires fewer components, and is less expensive.
X2 and XENPAK form factors SFP’s reduced size compared to the previous XFP type optics enables for a higher port density in networking hardware.
The Global SFP Transceivers market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
A new range of SFP GPON transceivers and a comprehensive line of GPON splitters have been introduced by Precision OT, a supplier of optical transceivers and associated active/passive optical components.
The business claims that these new GPON devices would aid service providers in their ongoing efforts to supply bandwidth-hungry subscribers with next-generation access services and make it easier for telcos and MSOs to implement innovative, fiber-deep network architectures like Fiber-to-the-X. (FTTX).
The reality is that existing access networks density of fiber optic cables is crucial for 5G and other disruptive technologies. As can be seen, GPON is an important first step for MSOs in delivering the high bandwidth, high performance services that their subscribers expect.
By switching to more cost-effective fiber optic connections instead of outdated copper wires and removing the need for pricey network switches, taking this route helps reduce both CAPEX and OPEX.
Our new line of GPON optics and our multiplexer/demultiplexer filter type were created and tested to the same exacting standards as all of our other equipment, making it simpler for our customers to continuously develop their access networks.
