Polyethylene. The most common resin produced in the world. PE resin is often used to manufacture plastic packaging and engineered films. Polyethylene is a type of thermoplastic used to manufacture bags, sheeting, stretch film, and shrink film.
Plastic bags typically are made from one of three basic types: high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), or linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE).
Those thick, glossy shopping bags from the mall are LLDPE, while grocery bags are HDPE, and garment bags from the dry cleaner are LDPE.In polymer chemistry and materials science, resin is a solid or highly viscous substance of plant or synthetic origin that is typically convertible into polymers.
Resins are usually mixtures of organic compounds. This is the material used in the manufacture of garbage bags, laundry bags, and utility bags, among others. It is also used for manufacturing paper used in handling, packaging or serving food or materials that require a CO2 or oxygen barrier.
Shopping bags are medium-sized bags, typically around 10–20 litres (2.5–5 gallons) in volume (though much larger versions exist, especially for non-grocery shopping), that are used by shoppers to carry home their purchases
Global shopping bag resin market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Anya Hindmarch returns to the checkouts with ‘next generation reusable shopping bag.The bag is made from recycled plastic and is fully recyclable, with minimum effort required – a built-in pocket acts as a pre-addressed envelope, allowing the bag to be placed in any letterbox when the user is ready to part with it.
It is designed to withstand 10 years of hard labour. “You can get your week’s shopping in it and schlep and lug but you can also put it down in a puddle while you wait for a bus,” says the designer.
The launch on 2 December comes after findings that the supermarket “bag for life” is not the environmental solution it was intended. This year, a number of food retailers pulled the 10p bags from their stores after learning that most ended up in the bin, with the average household getting through 50 .
