    GLOBAL SLC SSD MARKET

    INTRODUCTION

Solid state drives (SSDs) are a type of storage device that use non-volatile memory chips to store data. Unlike traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), SSDs do not have any spinning platters or moving parts.

This makes them faster, quieter, and more reliable than HDDs. SSDs are also more energy efficient, as they consume less power than HDDs.

SSDs first became available in the late 1990s, but they didn’t become popular until the mid-2000s, when they began to replace HDDs in many consumer devices, such as laptops and tablets. Since then, SSDs have become increasingly popular for enterprise-level storage solutions.

SSDs come in a variety of form factors, including 2.5-inch, 1.8-inch, and M.2. The two most popular types are SATA and NVMe.

SATA SSDs are the most common type and use the same type of connection as HDDs. NVMe SSDs are newer and offer significantly faster speeds than SATA SSDs.

SSDs are available in a variety of capacities, ranging from 128GB to 8TB. Some drives also come with built-in encryption and data protection features, making them more secure than traditional HDDs.

In addition to being faster and more reliable, SSDs also have a longer lifespan than HDDs. This is because SSDs don’t suffer from the same wear and tear as HDDs, due to the lack of moving parts. This makes them ideal for long-term storage solutions, such as archiving and backup.

The Global SLC SSD market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.

    RECENT DEVELOPMENT

The ultra-fast Solidigm D7-P5810 Single-Level Cell (SLC) SSD was introduced by Solidigm and is intended primarily for write-intensive workloads in the data centre industry. Solidigm’s first venture into SLC solid-state drives (SSD) is represented by this product.

Utilising Solidigm’s well-established 144-layer SLC 3D NAND technology, the D7-P5810 is built on the PCIe Gen 4.0 platform. This new addition is designed to support high-endurance and extremely write-intensive activities, and it complements Solidigm’s current D7 Series array.

For tasks like caching, high-performance computing (HPC), data logging, journaling, and more, this Storage Class Memory (SCM) SSD exhibits a 2X performance improvement over competing alternatives. It can perform up to 50 Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD) for random operations and 65 DWPD for sequential tasks.

Storage accelerator duties are performed by the D7-P5810, especially when it is placed in front of high-capacity tiers like QLC-based SSDs. Applications involving metadata and logging, where SLC can be used as a specialised Write-Ahead Log inside Ceph clusters to process data that is crucial to performance.

Solidigm has increased the scope of its benchmark endurance coverage with the launch of the D7-P5810. With compelling characteristics, they are happy to provide an incredibly fast data centre SSD that can handle workloads that require a lot of writing.Initially writing data to the SLC SSD for quick commits, then reading it more quickly in subsequent reads is known as data tiering.

Data may be combined, compressed, and written in bulk to underlying, higher-capacity QLC drives (such Solidigm’s D5-P5336) as it cools down to provide space-efficient storage on that medium.

Ten new SSDs with SLC caching were launched by TeamGroup. A variety of capacity, speed, and durability options are available to meet every need, according to TeamGroup’s announcement of the T-Create Classic C40 Gen 4 SSD series.

There will be three different versions available: C47, C45, and C43. The last letter appears to indicate the approximate read speeds in GB/s; these models will give sequential read rates of around 7,000 MB/s, 5,000 MB/s, and 3,000 MB/s, respectively.

With the help of the NVMe protocol, SLC caching, and a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 interface, the 2TB C47 model achieves read and write speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s, respectively. Sequential write rates suffer for the others, with the 4TB model falling to 4,800MB/s. For an enormous 5,800TBW (Terabytes Written) durability, that’s generally not too awful.
