By reducing glare from the sun, Bosch has launched a new smart visor that will make travelling safer. Compared to other weather-related conditions, the sun's glare doubles the likelihood of a vehicle accident by temporarily rendering drivers blind.

 

Authorities from all over the world have reported tens of thousands of car accidents each year that are caused by sun glare, and according to a separate research, the risk of a car accident is 16 percent greater in bright sunlight than it is in other conditions.

 

The conventional sun visor lacks the necessary tools to handle this safety issue. To the best of its ability, it partially blocks the light, but it also partially obscures the view.

 

With its Virtual Visor, a transparent LCD and user-friendly camera from Bosch is providing a solution that fully replaces the conventional vehicle sun visor. The Bosch technology is the first visor redesign in almost a century, and it uses intelligent algorithms to naturally block the sun's glare rather than obstructing the view of the road ahead.

 

The visor component, as we currently know it, is typically insufficient for the majority of drivers to prevent dangerous sun glare, particularly at dawn and twilight when the sun can significantly impair drivers' vision.  

 

The simplest advances can have the biggest effects, and Virtual Visor alters how drivers perceive the road.For the purpose of tracking the sun's cast shadow on the driver's visage, Virtual Visor connects an LCD panel with a driver or occupant-monitoring camera. Early in the development process, they learned that people always create a shadow on their own eyes when using traditional sun visors.

 

 This profound realisation influenced the architecture of the technology and simplified the idea behind the product. By using liquid crystal technology to prevent a particular light source, hazardous sun glare, driver discomfort, and accident risk are reduced. Visibility, comfort, and safety for the driver are also improved.
