    SOUTH AFRICA ELECTRIC TRUCK MARKET

    INTRODUCTION

Truck electrification is critical since trucks account for a significant portion of vehicle energy use and emissions. For a number of market segments, delivery trucks and other vocational vehicles are also well-suited to electrification and will soon achieve net cost parity with diesel trucks.

As a result, they could be used as a bridge to electric trucks in a variety of situations. Heavy pickup trucks are also popular, and electric light-duty pickups are on the way, with the technology eventually making its way to the market’s heavier section.
