Volta Trucks will be in Madrid as part of its European roadshow, showcasing the Volta Zero at the world-famous Circuito del Jarma. Diesel-powered trucks now account for 72 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions on the road.
In response, the Swedish start-up has unveiled the world’s first purpose-built, full-electric 16-tonne Volta Zero in Spain, which has been developed for city-centre distribution, lowering the environmental impact of freight transit in metropolitan areas, where air quality is at its worst.
In collaboration with Volvo Trucks, XPO Logistics, a renowned provider of freight transportation services, has announced the deployment of the first fully electric truck in its Spanish fleet.
With a range of 300 kilometres, the new Volvo FL Electric two-axle truck is intended for clean and quiet operation. It will be used for Inditex group deliveries in central Madrid at night. XPO will track its performance in order to reduce carbon emissions in its operations.
