In addition to the typical wire harness seen in an ICE vehicle, the EV drivetrain system really has its own wiring system. The high voltage batteries, inverters, and motors makeup the drivetrain system.
A separate high-voltage wire harness is used to link each of these. Since the high voltage generates electromagnetic noise that can interfere with components in the standard wire harness, they are insulated.
Without mentioning the EV drivetrain, the EV wire harness is identical to an internal combustion engine, however there are some extra parts and complexity. Therefore, the EV drivetrain must also be connected to that wire harness.
The Spain EV Wiring Harness Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
The challenge of manufacturing wire harness assembly tasks is addressed by the project AutoTAP (Automated Taping of Wire Harnesses). Spanish SME Rivas Robotics and the Research Centre CETEM have collaborated on it. The task at hand involves manually taping wire harnesses, hence automating this operation is the main goal.
It is anticipated that the existing process will be improved, the time required for the tape portion of the process will be decreased, and ergonomics will be improved by using collaborative robotics to combine the speed of human employees and the precision of robotics.
Through a work environment that eliminates the most tiresome and repetitive duties of the process, the solution will have an impact on the ergonomic conditions of employees.
