Small electric motors known as electric actuators are frequently hidden deep inside different automotive systems. Consider that your ev has electric or electromechanical power steering.
The electric actuator motor attached to the linkages that drive the steering mechanism receives the signal—how far you turned the steering wheel—when you turn it to the right.
In accordance with how far you rotated the wheel, sensors direct the motor to turn the wheel by a specific amount. The actuator then turns off until the steering wheel is turned again. Given the effort the electric motor makes, turning a large SUV only one or two fingers in today’s almost all vehicles.
Extra actuators operate your wipers, adjust your suspension’s preload, tighten your seat belts before an impact, operate your spoilers, open and close your sunroofs, open your trunk lids, and so on. When you press the accelerator or open the throttle in a drive-by-wire system, you are instructing the ECU to provide torque.
Actuators are actually activated by this, which opens butterfly valves in the input tract. The ECU operates the fuel injectors more often as a result of the increased air flow, which finally results in more torque being produced. The actual fuel injectors use electromagnetic valves, which are classified as electric actuators.
The Thailand EV actuators market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
The most recent iteration of BorgWarner’s all-wheel drive (AWD) coupling has been optimised with a small brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and tightly integrated electronics. Comparing the resulting actuator unit to a traditional AWD coupling, weight reductions of about 15% are achieved while maintaining very good durability.
The compact, high-performance design boasts best-in-class accuracy, torque density, and response times. Vehicle handling, stability, and traction are improved as a result.
A revolutionary 6-piston centrifugally controlled piston pump, which simultaneously generates and regulates system hydraulic pressure, lies at the heart of the coupling. The most recent generation coupling is a significant enabler for Eco mode systems because of its high stop/start capability and is now powered by a BLDC motor created in-house by BorgWarner.
New actuator applications for hybrid and all-electric vehicles are anticipated to be introduced thanks to motor control algorithms that enable system optimization.
