A vehicle that uses one or more electric motors for propulsion is referred to as an electric vehicle (EV). It can be driven independently by a battery, a collector system, or electricity from extravehicular sources (sometimes charged by solar panels, or by converting fuel to electricity using fuel cells or a generator).
Road and rail vehicles, surface and underwater watercraft, electric aeroplanes, and electric spacecraft are all examples of EVs. For road cars, EVs form a future mobility concept known as Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric (CASE) Mobility along with other upcoming automotive technologies including autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and shared mobility.
TONGA ELECTRIC VEHICLE MARKET SIZE AND FORECAST
The Tonga Electric Vehicle Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
MARKET DYNAMICS
An electric vehicle demonstration project is being carried out in Tonga by the PCREEE in association with the Tonga Department of Energy (MEIDECC), Tonga Power Limited, Tonga Electricity Commission, Ministry of Infrastructure, and Tonga Chamber and Commerce.
As stated in the Tonga Energy Road Map Plus, Tonga Energy Efficiency Master Plan, and Tonga’s second Nationally Determined Contributions, the project aims to identify and document the effects of EV charging activities on the country’s national grid and to increase Tonga’s readiness to support the transition to EVs as a strategy for reducing GHG emissions and meeting energy efficiency targets in the transportation sector.
Both the PCREEE and the Tonga government have identified reducing fossil fuel use and GHG emissions in the transportation sector as a top objective. To provide the PICTs with the knowledge they need to make educated decisions about their individual mobility futures, the PCREEE is now implementing a regional e-mobility preparedness program.
Since enthusiasts in Tonga have imported electric vehicles, it is vital to implement the necessary institutional, technical, policy, and legislative procedures to guarantee that the technology is secure and suitable for the country’s people and environment.
