It is a helicopter with many engines, and nothing makes an entry quite like a helicopter. If they are searching for an exhilarating, quick, and comfortable way to fly, these are the best options.
In a dual engine helicopter, it is generally accepted that the second engine is present to make sure the flight continues without incident if there is engine trouble with one of the engines. A single engine helicopter would have to conduct a “autorotation” in order to keep the blades moving by reversing the height of the aircraft and the speed of the blades, which would aid in a clean landing.
The Global Twin Engine Helicopter market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is utilised by the NH90 twin-engine military helicopter. The Defence Purchasing Agency of France (Direction Générale de l’Armement – DGA), in collaboration with Safran Helicopter Engines, TotalEnergies, and Airbus Helicopters, has completed the first test flight of a medium-sized, twin-engine, multi-role NH90 military helicopter, during which one of its two RTM322 engines used Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
HEFA (Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids) technology was employed by TotalEnergies to manufacture this fuel, which has a carbon footprint that is four times smaller than that of fossil fuel.
As a result, it satisfies the 65% abatement standard set by the European Union for sustainable fuels. This test flight, which took place at the expertise and testing facility DGA Essais en vol in Istres, is a first for a military chopper with such a high SAF content and without any engine modifications.
The fuel, referred to as a drop-in fuel, satisfies the aviation sector’s goal of rapid decarbonization without requiring any changes to the aircraft, engine, or logistics infrastructure.
The RTM322 can use this fuel, according to a bench test conducted at the Bordes factory of Safran Helicopter Engines. Safran Helicopter Engines has a number of programmes in place, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which aims to lower CO2 emissions from operating engines. There is already certification for its turbine range to operate on 50% SAF.
