RECENT ACQUISITIONS IN U.S COURIER SERVICE MARKET

UPS has acquired Delivery Solutions, a Texas-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company that offers retailers “out-of-the-box” same-day delivery options. Additionally, Delivery Solutions’ technology platform offers curbside and in-store pick-up options, helps retailers ship from warehouses and stores, and assists with distribution.

Retailers can use it to manage the post-purchase experience of their customers. As businesses increasingly seek an omnichannel approach that is experience-driven, the technology will increase flexibility and create a compelling online shopping experience.

By engaging with an ecosystem of same-day delivery providers after UPS starts using the Delivery Solutions platform, they will be able to better meet delivery needs. Delivery Solutions will function independently under the same management as an agnostic, multi-carrier platform and will share the same brand.

By working together, Delivery Solutions customers will be able to offer omnichannel shopping experiences that include express, same-day, and next-day delivery, giving retailers of all sizes dependable, quick, and effective shipping.

    U.S COURIER SERVICE MARKET DYNAMICS

Amazon is on track to overtake UPS and FedEx as the leading package delivery service in the United States by early 2022. They anticipate becoming one of the world’s largest carriers. Amazon has been progressively expanding its logistics and fulfilment capabilities.

Its purpose was to have more control over how products were delivered to customers’ homes. Thousands of last-mile delivery companies transport items solely for Amazon, as well as a growing in-house network of planes, trucks, and ships, according to the retail behemoth. It has also strewn warehouses and aviation hubs across the country to expedite goods.

With these technologies, Amazon would be able to compete with major carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service in the future. Its shipping activities are rapidly expanding, making it the country’s fourth-largest delivery business.

During this year’s holiday shopping season, which has been exceptionally difficult due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a worldwide supply chain constraint, and labour shortages, Amazon’s in-house delivery operations have become a huge advantage.

Amazon has started delivering cargo to new ports to circumvent congestion, in addition to using its own trucks and planes.

GoBolt, a Toronto-based provider of supply chain technology, has announced the introduction of a green small packet delivery service in the United States and Canada. The company’s expanding fleet of electric cars and a partnership with sustainability technology company EcoCart to offset carbon emissions power the service.

The bulky and large orders that GoBolt’s electric last-mile delivery network mostly served include things like couches, exercise cycles, and refrigerators. However, after purchasing same-day delivery firm BoxKnight, the company was prepared to expand into small packages.

GoBolt’s decision to extend last-mile delivery services to tiny packages was a logical progression as they attempted to expand their first-party logistics network.

FedEx’s decision to reduce Sunday delivery service in remote areas of the U.S. is the most recent indication that the COVID-19-inspired e-commerce boom is coming to an end. The ground unit of the courier will provide less service in less populated and rural areas, hence restricting its reach. For its Sunday deliveries, United Parcel Service mostly uses the U.S. Postal Service.

    U.S COURIER SERVICE NEW LAUNCH

The Amazon Air express network’s unrelenting expansion continued with the addition of daily service to Omaha, Nebraska. Amazon announced that an ATR72-500 turboprop operated by partner Silver Airways arrived at Eppley Airfield from its regional air hub in Fort Worth, Texas.

GAT Airline Ground Support is in charge of package handling at the airport.

Prime members in Nebraska and western Iowa will benefit from faster deliveries thanks to the daily service, which will support rising demand for online goods in those areas. In the Omaha area, Amazon operates two delivery locations.

Wichita, Kansas is now served by Amazon Air. In the last year, it has added around a dozen new locations to its network.

Amazon’s latest outsourced transportation partner is Silver Airways, a privately operated regional airline based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that conducts passenger service in the Southeast, Bahamas, and Caribbean with small propeller aircraft and seaplanes. It started flying for Amazon out of Alliance Fort Worth Airport, serving Des Moines, Iowa, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
