Military electric vehicles have so far been employed in the defense industry for unmanned systems, transportation of military supplies, and mobility.

Later, due to trends, infantry squad vehicles with hybrid electric drives were developed, and the Millenworks light utility vehicle was then shown.

Although there are a lot of electric vehicles in the military industry, the range must be expanded. It also has to be open to different design ideas so that other industry participants may participate and provide a growing number of possibilities.

UAE MILITARY ELECTRIC VEHICLE MARKET DYNAMICS

Defense company NIMR, based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ST Engineering, a global technology, engineering, and defence group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of cutting-edge hybrid electric drive (HED) systems.

NIMR hopes to be the first Middle Eastern manufacturer to integrate the game-changing power systems, cementing its position as a leader in the armoured vehicle industry.

In addition to enhancing range, acceleration, and stealth, HED systems also provide sustainability advantages including fewer emissions as compared to a normal diesel engine system.

The HED systems’ key benefit is that they are far quieter than conventional engines, which is essential for covert mobility during combat operations and silent watch activities.

By using the HED systems’ claims of greater vehicle economy and delivering power for all necessary equipment, including communications, situational awareness, and weapon systems, NIMR and ST Engineering intend to achieve the most stringent duty-cycle standards.

Hybrid technology will eventually reduce military dependency on fossil fuels in addition to bringing several technological and operational improvements; this is a move that is in line with both the UAE’s National Climate Change Plan and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
