    The core of the SiC inverter, the BorgWarner-exclusive and small Viper power module, is included in the 800V iDM220 and helps increase the range, driving efficiency, and safety of electric cars. This project marks the beginning of a new era for BorgWarner’s global electric drive business since it is the company’s first 800V iDM project ever.

     

    Electric motor, inverter, and gearbox make up the little 800V iDM220. With a max wheel torque of 5300Nm and outstanding integration and efficiency, its platform can handle power requirements ranging from 160kW to 300kW.

     

    The power module for the 800V SiC inverter utilizes the efficient and well-proven double-sided water-cooling Viper module technology from BorgWarner. Higher dependability and adaptability are guaranteed with the tested use of the proprietary Viper.

     

    The existing system has attained the ISO 26262 ASIL C level and is completely compatible with an upgrade to ASIL D. The program has a cyber security component as well. The 800V High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) 220 is the third generation of high-voltage electric motors from BorgWarner, following the HVH 410 and HVH 250.

     

    It features a small design with an outside diameter of 220mm and a top speed of more than 20,000 rpm. The HVH 220’s high-power density can deliver over 300Nm in a small packing space because of its adaptable and creative design.
