High-intensity ultraviolet light is used in the photochemical process of ultraviolet curing, also referred to as UV curing, to immediately cure or "dry" inks, coatings, or adhesives.
Liquid monomers and oligomers combined with a negligible amount of photoinitiators are known as UV formulations. The formulationâinks, coatings, or adhesivesâimmediately "hardens" or cures and is prepared for the following manufacturing step in a matter of seconds.
In order to replace solvent-based products with something better, UV curable inks and coatings were initially employed. Traditional heat- and air-drying relies on the evaporation of solvents, which reduces the initial coating application by more than 50% and produces pollutants for the environment.
The Global UV instant curing equipment market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
The Activ Hybrid LED UV, a novel hybrid curing system that can be retrofitted onto current machinery or placed on new presses, has been introduced by Fujifilm.
The system combines its own ink knowledge with "the most recent high power, low heat LED UV curing technology" to "enhance label manufacturing on narrow web presses."
Additionally, it aims to make it possible to "seamlessly transition" conventional UV or water-based flexo presses to LED UV curing. This change may lead to significant material, economic, and environmental savings as well as an improvement in output and quality.
Fujifilm is pleased to be the only provider able to provide the label and packaging sector with both a cutting-edge LED curing technology and a high performance LED ink line.
