A vacuum assisted biopsy (VAB) of the breast is a method of obtaining a sample of aberrant breast tissue to examine under a microscope. The procedure is also known as a mammotome biopsy. A vacuum core biopsy and a minimally invasive breast biopsy (MIBB).
A procedure that removes a small sample of tissue from the breast. An imaging device is used to guide a hollow probe coupled to a vacuum apparatus. The probe is placed through a tiny cut in the numbed skin of the breast. The VAB employs a specialised tool that uses vacuum or suction to remove more tissue. This provides more information about the irregularity in their breast tissue.
The Global Vacuum-assisted Biopsy Devices Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Devicor Introduces New Tetherless Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy System The FDA has approved the Mammotome Elite Biopsy System, which includes TruVac Vacuum Technology. Devicor Medical Products Inc. announced the commercial launch of the Mammotome elite Biopsy System, the only tetherless single insertion, multiple sample, vacuum-assisted biopsy (VAB) equipment with unique TruVac vacuum technology.
Unlike other devices that rely on automated syringes, elite has a vacuum that produces approximately the same suction power as the classic Mammotome VAB system, allowing the device to capture big, high-quality tissue samples.
The Mammotome Elite Biopsy System will be utilised in ultrasound-guided breast and axillary lymph node biopsies to aid in the detection and treatment of breast cancer. Devicor acquired 510(k) authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March to employ the system on patients. In Europe, the product has also acquired CE certification.
The Mammotome elite system contains a reusable holster, charging base, and single-patient-use disposable 13-gauge probe with a bladed insertion tip. This tip is designed to move easily through tissue while allowing physicians to maintain control of the needle even in problematic dense breast tissue. Elite’s innovative lightweight ergonomic design gives improved control for precise needle placement and effortless insertion.
