ZUVA has teamed up with the Zimbabwean electric vehicle manufacturer Electric Vehicle Centre Africa (EVCA), also known as BYD Zimbabwe, to design and install the country's first public EV charging network. The project will begin with the installation of a prototype charger in the nation's capital. Electric vehicle charging stations will thereafter be built at ZUVA service stations throughout major highways and cities around the nation.
The corporation has stated that electric vehicles are the way of the future, and the adoption of EVs in the area has been successful, with many businesses and private persons putting orders for them.The availability of the assisting charging infrastructure will be addressed by ZUVA and EVCA. A 60kw DC CCS Type 2 charger, a super-fast charger, will be installed as the project's first step.This charger is compatible with all BYD electric cars and buses in addition to European EVs. Other electric cars that can use the charger will be able to charge completely in under an hour.
