    Battery manufacturer Krisel Electric has started construction on a new factory in Rain Bach, Austria, which it calls 3K One. When the 67,000-square-foot plant comes online, it will have the capacity to produce 800,000 kWh worth of batteries per year.

     

    The new facility will feature a fully automated production line, and will also host the development of prototypes and software and engineering development. A rooftop 200-kW photovoltaic system will produce energy to be stored in Krisel stationary batteries.

     

    Krisel cooperates with manufacturers, fleet operators, and cab and transport companies to produce custom-made batteries for small production runs of up to 500 vehicles, or to produce its battery technology under license. The company has tested its battery packs in electric conversions of the Porsche Panamera, Skoda Yeti and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

     

    The AVL List Battery Innovation Center (BIC) in Graz is now operational. The emphasis is on creating, developing, and validating new effective production methods in addition to the functional development of new high-voltage batteries for electric cars.

     

    The 1600 square meter building, located inside the company’s Graz headquarters, is made to support all of AVL’s global competences for “new battery ideas.” The knowledge of production planners and the input of components and machine makers are both crucial to the creation of working batteries at the Battery Innovation Center.

     

     As a result, the batteries created by AVL across all phases of development have a “much better degree of maturity. Additionally, the process should be able to be accelerated till it is ready for the market.
