Infrared (IR) LEDs are often used in remote control devices and security systems across the world, including clandestine devices employed by the US military. Infrared LEDs are commonly utilised in security cameras to allow them to collect images both during the day and at night.
LED stands for light emitting diode, which refers to a diode that emits light when electricity flows through it. Although an IR LED is a light-emitting diode, the light it produces is infrared, which is invisible to the human eye.
The Global Automotive Infrared LED market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Everlight launches infrared LED for facial recognition in connected cars.Three new infrared solutions have been released by LED and optoelectronics manufacturer Everlight Electronics to provide driver facial recognition and other advanced automation features for the automotive industry.
The VS-FI3535 LED Series can follow the driver's eyes and facial expressions to identify gaze concentration, daze, and distraction, according to the release. It is also ideal for facial recognition. It has been incorporated by Everlight into a product with dimensions, power consumption, and an angle emission.
The chip satisfies the requirements of AEC-Q102 (Automotive Electronics Council stress test certification for visible and IR LEDs, lasers, photo diodes and transistors), runs in nearly any temperature, and responds quickly.
According to the manufacturer, the chip combines the quality and safety required for driver face recognition applications, and it is more effective at detecting targets than conventional LED and EEL devices.
Everlight has also introduced the ALS-DPDIC17 LED Series and the IR12-21C/TR8-AM LED, which work together to enhance the sensitivity and accuracy of touch displays. Applications for these LEDs include automatically dimming dashboard lights and rearview mirrors.
The Xpeng P7 also incorporates vision and voice interaction, as well as artificial intelligence-powered behaviour monitoring via the Alibaba In-Car Mini App platform, to give services depending on driver preferences.
Third-party developers will be able to use the platform to improve the availability of specialised services for the in-car environment.
