Performance additives are the various chemicals that are added to the modern-day automotive gasoline and other propelling fuels to stabilise and elevate their octane level, decrease the propensity of pre-ignition, and allow for more power to be made from increased compression and/or advanced ignition timing.
Performance additives such as microspheres, aramid fibers and odorants bring unique properties to products and compounds. The benefits of using these materials include longer product lifespan, high temperature performance, lightweighting and volumetric cost reduction.Additives are substances that are added to engine oil, transmission oil and coolant to improve their properties.
Additives are even added to fuels and oils in refineries. Without additives, neither fuel nor oil would be able to deliver the required power.Oil additives can effectively reduce wear and stress on your engine to boost its long-term performance. Lubricants like antiformants and anti-wear oil additives coat engine parts to prevent stiffness and seizure.
Global automotive performance additives market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Lanxess launches lubricant additives for PVs and high-performance engine oils.Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is launching an organic lubricant additive for passenger car and high-performance engine oils.
The new Additin RC 3502 has been specifically developed to reduce friction and deliver sustained performance and anti-wear protection. The friction modifier is non-corrosive, compatible with all synthetic and mineral engine oils and has zero SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulphur).
The additives business unit (ADD) of LANXESS offers a broad portfolio of lubricant products for a host of different applications and industries.
These products, such as base oils, lubricant additives, additive packages and formulated lubricants help clients to meet increasingly stringent, legally prescribed standards for emissions and fuel efficiency.
The automotive industry is currently focusing particularly closely on the latter, and the new friction modifier from LANXESS caters to this development, since an effective engine lubricant plays an important role in fuel efficiency.
The new Additin RC 3502 is a durable organic friction modifier developed for todayâs extended drain, high mileage applications, typically up to 20,000 miles, with exceptional solubility in the full range of commercially available passenger car and high-performance engine oils,â says Dr Frank DeBlase, application technology manager in the Lubricant Additives business line of ADD.
