SMC is a reinforced polyester material that features carbon or glass fibers that are typically an inch or more in length. These long strands of fiber are suspended or spread out in a resin bath made of a mixture of vinyl ester, polyester or epoxy.
The combination of the resin and long fibers produces a strong final product. SMC is typically sold in rolls that can be cut into smaller pieces known as âcharges.âProduction of SMC occurs to ensure the fibers and resin are fully integrated. Resin gets applied to a film in the form of a paste. Fibers are then cut and added to the resin.
SMC bonding epoxy adhesives/Fiberglass Repair Adhesives are two-part urethanes or two-part epoxies used to bond backup strips to SMC (sheet molded compound), FRP (traditional fiberglass) and primed metal. The adhesives provide a full range of hardness, flexibility and worktimes for jobs such as reinforcing the backside of plastic components on vehicles. They use automatic mixing and offer excellent sag resistance.
When the backside of a plastic component is loosening, or a new component is being installed, SMC bonding epoxy dhesives offer the reliable adhesion that you need for bonding rigid plastics. They securely bond pieces with impervious surfaces. Our adhesives are ideal for small repair areas such as grilles and small gouges, as well as bonding headlamp buckets.
Key features include : Two-part urethane or two-part epoxy adhesives effectively bond rigid plastic ; Commonly used to bond backup strips to SMC and FRP (traditional fiberglass) ; Frequently used for backside reinforcement repair on a variety of plastic components ; SMC Bonding epoxy adhesives offers excellent sag resistance.
The Global Automotive SMC bonding epoxy adhesive market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Norton SMC FRP Fiberglass Panel Bonding Epoxy Adhesive - It is a Superior two-part epoxy SpeedGrip/PLIOGRIP adhesive and designed to bond steel, aluminum, SMC, FRP and fiberglass truck parts and panels.
Seals and bonds in one application and the longer work time of 90 minutes allows for adequate adjusting and handling . Clamping/fixture time of 4 hours and sanding/painting time of 8 hours .
The glass beads mixed in this formulation provide the adequate spacing between parts for optimal bond strength . It has an applicator gun 41398 (manual) or 41396 (pneumatic) and a 2:1 Cartridge.
