Development and evaluation of zinc oxide-blended kenaf fibre biocomposite for automotive applications. The use of glass-fibre sheet moulding compound (GF-SMC) in autos is raising environmental concerns.

Flexural strength (121%), tensile strength (38%), and water resistance (76%) were all boosted by 12.4% ZnO nanoparticles. When compared to GF-SMC, the ZnO12.4%-NFRBC exhibited similar mechanical qualities, but it used 9% less energy to produce and had a 33% lower environmental impact according to life-cycle assessment (LCA).

 

ZnO12.4%-NFRBC's water resistance was much enhanced, however more alterations are required to completely fulfil the standards for GF-SMC replacement.
