In the coker facility, pet coke collects in the coke drum as the cracking process takes place. Cokers use a semi-batch method to successively fill a number of drums. When a drum is full, it is removed from operation, cooled, and then the coke is drained out of it. A severe form of heat cracking is coking. In a furnace with a relatively short residence period, the leftover feed is heated to a temperature of around 475 to 520 °C (890 to 970 °F) before being discharged into the bottom of a sizable container known as a coke drum for extensive and controlled cracking.
The substance from the cracked lighter rises to the top of the drum and is removed. In order to separate it into naphtha, diesel oils, and heavy gas oils for further processing in the catalytic cracking unit, it is then charged into the product fractionator. The heavier product is left behind and eventually fractures into coke, a solid carbonaceous substance similar to coal, as a result of the heat that is still present. The coke drum is taken out of service and replaced after being loaded with solid coke.
The Global coke drum market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
The coker plant transforms heavy leftovers from crude oil distillation into coke, gas oils, and coke components that are market-compliant. The brand-new coke drums will help ensure a steady flow of mineral oil products. The PT-50 ring crane, one of the largest cranes in the world, as well as several telescopic cranes and specialised transports were used by Mammoet Germany to complete the project.
All of the heavy lifts necessary to replace the two old coke drums with two new coke drums, which measure 35 metres in length and weigh roughly 400 tonnes, were successfully completed by the experts in designed heavy lifting and transport. The 28 axle SPMT lines were used to transport the used coke barrels. To ensure efficient and timely execution within the extremely constrained space on site and within the strict time frame of the full shutdown, a number of concepts were evaluated during the planning phase.
