The phrase Crude Steel is used to refer to the first solid steel product formed after liquid steel has solidified. In other words, it includes both ingots (in traditional mills) and semis (in modern mills with continuous casting facility). Before being further processed, crude steel is either liquid steel or cast steel.
For statistical purposes, crude steel also includes liquid steel used in the production of steel castings, according to the International Iron & Steel Institute (IISI).
In order to obtain crude steel, two different processes are used. The first, and most common, method makes use of natural resources obtained from iron mining. The second technology recycles industrial scrap or out-of-service steel components.
Blooms, billets, slabs, or plates are produced by the crude steel industry, which are then mechanically turned into rails, structural elements, bars, sheets, or wires.
The Global Crude Steel Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
