A substrate is printed with images or text using an imaged sleeve, cylinder, or plate in flexo printing. Elastomers or other polymer-based materials are used as image carriers in flexo printers. These image carriers are attached to rolling cylinders and have raised surfaces that display your artwork.
Another cylinder known as an anilox is used to metre ink directly onto the picture carrier. The picture is transferred onto a moving substrate as the image carrier cylinder rotates.
Flexo printing on corrugated or another substrate that will eventually be laminated to the finished product works nicely.Flexo printing is a rapid printing method that prints on a variety of absorbent and non-absorbent materials using inks that dry quickly. Flexo is frequently regarded as the best printing method because of its adaptability, durability, and short print times.
The Global Decorative printing corrugated packaging market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
In order to lower printing costs for small and medium-sized manufacturing batches, when analogue printing is ineffective, Kento Hybrid technology combines one or more flexo printing units with a high-quality inkjet printer in a single line.
Because of this combination, printing costs are appealing (especially when compared to single-pass inkjet printing that can be held back by lack of output and cost of inks compared to flexo).
This is how the objective is accomplished:
Only inkjet printing will be used for short or very short runs (up to 2,000 sqm), eliminating the pricey flexo plates; Flexo printing will be used in mid-sized runs (up to 5,000 sqm) to print colours with high ink consumption (background colours), greatly lowering the use of expensive digital ink.
The Delta SPC 130 FlexLine Eco+, a digital corrugated industrial manufacturing press for run lengths from one to millions of square meters, has been introduced by Koenig & Bauer Durst.
The Delta SPC 130 FlexLine Eco+ press is intended for converters who generate volumes between five and eight million square meters annually and uses water-based, food-safe, sustainable inks. The press has a compact drying system, a new dynamic nozzle management (DNM) tool, and it can handle media sizes up to 1.3 x 2.8 meters.
DNM can be set to control the amount of ink being jetted from the head after detecting nozzle clogging. It minimizes printhead maintenance while ensuring that high-quality production is continually maintained.
For packaging printers and converters, inkjet is opening up new avenues and possibilities for printing on corrugated packaging. Corrugated board is evolving from a simple brown shipping box to a product container with high-quality graphics and print embellishment thanks to advancements in substrates, inks, decorative processes, and inkjet printing heads.
The next significant packaging industry for digital printing is likely to be corrugated printing. According to Evandro Matteucci, vice president and general manager of EFI Inkjet's packaging and building materials division, the EFI Nozomi platform for single-pass inkjet digital corrugated package printing has attracted a lot of interest.
The corrugated sector is also performing well for HP's PageWide press line. The HP PageWide T1195i Press, the third generation of the T1100 Series Press, is an excellent illustration of this platform's constant progress and refinement.
The Shenzhen Wonder Indonesia team displayed the digitally printed corrugated packaging to the audience in a distinctive and creative manner: Wonder's WD250-16A++ digital printer produced all of the booth's display and decorative images.
