A defoamer, also known as an anti-foaming agent, is a chemical additive that decreases and prevents foam formation in industrial process liquids. Anti-foam agent and defoamer are phrases that are frequently used interchangeably. Defoamers, strictly speaking, remove existing foam whereas anti-foamers inhibit the production of new foam.
Insoluble oils, polydimethylsiloxanes and other silicones, as well as some alcohols, stearates, and glycols, are often utilised agents. The additive is used to prevent foam development or to break down previously created foam.
Defoamer removes foam created by the mixing, grinding, and chemical reactions used in the manufacture of paint and coatings. Manufacturing of chemicals and cleaning agents. To eliminate foam, defoamer is commonly used in the chemical and cleaning compound production processes.
Many substances, including liquid surfactants and solid particles, contribute to lower surface tension and so break bubbles. 2-octanol, Oleic acid, paraffinic waxes, amide waxes, sulfonated oils, organic phosphates, silicone oils, mineral oils, and dimethylpolysiloxane are examples of defoaming agents.
The Global defoamers market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
BASF launches a new defoamer that complies with major food contact regulations for adhesives, paper coating applications and functional packaging.
BASF is pleased to introduce Foamaster WO 2360, a new defoamer that complies with China’s food contact regulation GB 9685-2016 for adhesives as well as major food contact regulations for packaging such as the Code of Federal Regulation (CFR), Food Contact Materials Regulation (EC), Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (BfR), and Swiss Ordinance on Food Contact Materials.
The use of additives in food contact materials and related products is governed by China’s National Food Safety Standard GB 9685-2016. It was implemented by China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) and went into effect.
The newly developed white oil-based defoamer has good oil-slick resistance during storage for adhesive formulations, outstanding and sustained defoaming efficacy, and high compatibility across acrylic PSA systems. Foamaster WO 2360, when used in paper coatings, also demonstrates outstanding defoaming efficiency together with effective anti-foaming and quick foam break time.
Foamaster WO 2360 is generally suited for paper coating formulations, barrier coatings, paper and paperboard applications, and any other application that requires contact with food because of its adaptability. As a result, clients no longer need to stock up on various defoamers.
