A mix of microcontrollers with digital signal processors is a digital signal controller (DSC) (DSPs). Like microcontrollers, DSCs respond quickly to interrupts, include control-oriented peripherals like watchdog timers and PWMs, and are typically programmed in the C programming language, but they can also be programmed in the native assembly language of the hardware.
On the DSP side, they include features like single-cycle multiply-accumulate (MAC) units, barrel shifters, and huge accumulators that are common to most DSPs.
The Global digital signal controller market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
The new entry-level Digital Signal Controllers (DSC) offering from NXP is the MC56F81xxx family. The high performance 56800EX DSP core, with frequency up to 100MHz, is the foundation of this high efficiency family. It is the first DSC device from NXP to include a Digital Signature Algorithm Security Subsystem (DSASS) with a high-speed low-power operational amplifier.
This family improves the cost performance of the DSC products. The MC56F81xxx series expands the memory to 128KB Flash, 20KB RAM, and 64KB boot ROM when compared to the MC56F82xxx family. The MC56F81xxx family also adds a number of features to the MC56F82xxx family, such as enhanced DMA function (eDMA), configurable logic Event Generator (EVTG), dual 1.6MSps 12-bit ADCs, and complete PMBus support.
A very affordable solution for power conversion and motor control applications is provided by the MC56F81xxx family.
