    Erba Mannheim is sending off the EC 90, another electrolyte analyzer with support free terminals in an across the board sensor cartridge, focused on labs, everything being equal. Using a sensor that incorporates thick film technology, the EC 90 directly measures Na+, Cl-, K+, and Ca2+ from whole blood, plasma, serum, and pre-diluted urine.

     

    A brand-new reagent pack includes the “plug and play” sensor cartridge, which has a three-month on-board lifespan that is the best in the market and can perform up to 3,000 samples. The pack does not need to be cleaned or maintained, and waste is contained internally.

     

    The EC 90 has modes for measuring sample volumes of 35 L and 70 L and can analyze samples in 35 seconds, with a typical throughput of 90 samples per hour.

     

    For Na+ and Cl-, the resolution of the results is 0.1 mmol/L, for K+ and Ca2+, it is 0.01 mmol/L, and they are reproducible with a CV of less than 1%.

     

    The EC 90 has an 8.5-inch color touchscreen display, LIS connectivity, automatic calibration, two USB ports, an onboard 24-column thermal printer, and a serial port. It is also lightweight and small (337 x 273 x 422 mm, less than 8 kg).
