    Fulcrum has introduced the Speed 25, a new lightweight wheelset with a 26mm profile and bladed spokes that attempts to combine aero performance with comfort and usability via a 21mm internal rim width.     Both the new 2023 Avignon C380 HMB and Arroyo C5 were constructed with ease of city commuting in mind.     The Flluid-2 and Flluid-3 are two brand-new electric bike models from FUELL, the electric bike firm founded by internationally famous motorcycle designer Erik Buell. With two detachable battery packs with a combined capacity of 2 kWh, the Flluid-2 is referred to be an “ultra-long-range powerhouse”. This is twice the battery capacity of the original FUELL Flluid-1 and makes it possible to travel an astonishing 225 miles (362 km) on a single charge.

     

    The Flluid-3 offers a single 1 kWh battery, which should be sufficient for anyone who can make do with a still-impressive 110 mi (177 km) range, as an easier-to-mount step-through option. Both models come with 750 W continuous-rated Valeo mid-drive motors that may be throttled, although, in Europe, the maximum speed is only 6 km/h (3.7 mph) to comply with regulations.

     

    Although both the EU and US versions of the motor are advertised as having 130 Nm of torque, the motor will also have a 250 W rating in Europe, making it one of the most powerful mid-drives currently available on retail e-bikes.

     

    The French company Upway, which refurbishes and distributes electric bikes from several brands, has opened an office in the United States. Since its founding, Upway has renovated and certified more than 10,000 e-bikes in France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, establishing a solid reputation for itself in the region.

     

    The company wants to make its platform a marketplace for the broadest range of e-bikes, including cargo and foldable bikes as well as road and mountain bikes. 

     

    For 2023, Decathlon had already launched their lineup of Rockrider electric mountain bikes.     EUROPE E-BIKE MARKET REGULATIONS

    The legal maximum assisted speed for eBikes in the EU and the UK is 25 kph. E-bikes are still permitted to provide electrical assistance above this speed, but riders are not permitted to pedal them faster.

     

    Some bicycles can even be charged while you are pedaling.  The EU and UK laws now specify that an electric bicycle must have a motor with a continuous rated power output of 250W or less to be categorized as an “eBike” or Pedelec. In the UK or the EU, there is no specific license needed to operate an e-bike that satisfies the requirements of a standard pedelec.

     

    However, e-bike riders in the UK must be 14 years of age or older. You need a license and the bike needs to be registered as an electric vehicle to ride speed pedelecs or more potent freight e-Bikes. There will typically be some sort of road tax.

    The Super Soco TS Street Hunter and TC Wanderer are both constructed on the same platform and have an electric motor located in the back hub that has a stated top speed. Each bike has a single replaceable battery that, according to the manufacturer, can be fully recharged using a regular household power outlet in just 3.5 hours.

     

    Two more models from the German company Gudereit have been added to the increasing roster of urban electric bikes. The new ET-13.5 Evo and ET-12.5 Evo, a pair of step-through electric bicycles with some outstanding innovation and features, were just released in the UK. 

     

    Starting things off is the Gudereit ET-13.5 Evo commuter e-bike, which has a Neodrive Z20 rear hub motor and a Pinion 12-speed transmission with a 28 lb-ft (40 nm) torque rating. Gates Carbon Drive belt, which is silent and requires no maintenance, transmits power to the back wheel.

     

    Pinion’s gearboxes are renowned for their durability because they are weatherproof and can go a long way before needing maintenance. Additionally, they provide accurate shifts even when the vehicle is under load or at a standstill. The Neodrive motor on the bike is also quite impressive. 

     

    The downtube of the ET-13.5 Evo from Gudereit houses a 7725-watt-hour battery pack, which is fairly substantial. The battery pack on the ET-13.5 Evo is larger than those found on many other e-bikes, so we can expect quite a deal of range from this bike, especially if your journeys are limited to urban areas, even though the brand doesn’t offer any claimed range estimates.
