    FIRE-AND-FORGET MISSILE MARKET

    INTRODUCTION

A type of missile guidance known as “fire-and-forget” can reach its target even when the launcher is not in the launcher’s line of sight of the target and does not require any additional external assistance after launch, such as wire guiding or illumination of the target.

This is a crucial quality for a guided weapon to possess since a person or vehicle that stays close to the target to guide the missile (using, for example, a laser designator) is exposed to attack and unable to perform other tasks.

Usually, immediately before launch, the missile has its target information encoded into it. This could be a set of coordinates, velocity-based radar readings, or an infrared image of the target.

    FIRE-AND-FORGET MISSILE MARKET RECENT DEVELOPMENT

The FGM-148 Javelin, also known as the Advanced Anti-Tank Weapon System-Medium (AAWS-M), is a man-portable anti-tank system that was developed in America and is still in use. It took the place of the M47 Dragon anti-tank missile in US service.

In contrast to wire-guided systems, like the system employed by the Dragon, which require a user to lead the weapon during the engagement, it uses automatic infrared guidance, allowing the user to seek cover as soon as the weapon is launched.

The high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead of the Javelin can destroy contemporary tanks by top attacking them from above, where their armor is thinnest, and is also effective against fortifications in a direct attack flight.

A “soft launch arrangement” is one in which the missile is released from the launcher and launched to a location away from the operator that is safe.

The launcher is now more difficult to locate, but troops in the area are still at risk from backblast from the launch tube. As soon as the “fire-and-forget” missile is fired, the firing crew may move, or they may get ready to fire on their next target right away.

Despite just needing one soldier to fire it, the missile system is occasionally carried by two soldiers, a gunner and an ammunition carrier.
