FLUOROSILICONE RUBBER MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Dow Corning introduces two new fluoro liquid silicone rubbers. Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicone and silicon-based technology and innovation, is introducing two new Silastic® brand F-LSRs to expand design options and provide processing efficiency for fuel-resistant automotive components, building on its breakthrough elastomer technology in fluoro liquid silicone rubber (F-LSR).

The new product adds 60 and 70 durometer hardness choices to a growing family of completely and partly fluorinated liquid silicone rubbers – a range that no other fluorosilicone elastomer provider can match. Innovative Silastic F-LSRs combine the processing advantages of liquid silicone rubber (LSR) with the fuel, oil, and solvent resistance of fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) to address important market demands for both performance and cost management.

With the assistance of this most recent fluorosilicone elastomer technology from Dow Corning, fabricators can improve manufacturing processes through automated processing, lower labour costs, faster cycle times, energy savings, and lower scrap rates. Designers can use this technology to create components that are more resilient to harsh operating environments.

With a broad selection of FSR and F-LSR solutions, Dow Corning is ideally positioned to fulfil the expanding market demands. Silastic FL 60-9201 F-LSR (60 Shore A durometer) and Silastic FL 70-9201 F-LSR (70 Shore A durometer) are the two newest Silastic fluoro liquid silicone rubbers (PDF) offered by Dow Corning.

Both have exceptional resistance to nonpolar hydrocarbon fuels, oils, and solvents and provide cost savings throughout the manufacturing process, especially when moulding tiny components in large quantities.  For dynamic seals like diaphragms and membranes, Silastic FL-60-9201 F-LSR offers outstanding flexibility, while Silastic FL 70-9201 F-LSR offers high modulus with a low compression set for static seals like O-rings and gaskets.

    Fluorosilicone Rubber Market Share

The additional hardness choices are available alongside Dow Corning’s other liquid silicone rubbers that are fully fluorinated (30 and 40 Shore A) and partially fluorinated (45 and 65 Shore A).  To satisfy particular application needs, designers can select from a wide variety of great performance qualities. Reduced flash and scrap, improved dimensional stability, lower processing temperatures for overmolding plastic components, and optimized rheology for simpler moulding of complex parts all benefit fabricators.
