    With no PWM control, each LED output can be turned off or on, or it can be set to its own PWM controller value.Either open-drain with current sink capability or totem pole sink, source capability are programmed for the LED output driver.The PCA9685 has tolerant inputs and outputs and operates with a range of supply voltages.

     

    LEDs can be controlled with external drivers and a minimal number of discrete components for larger current or higher voltage LEDs, or they can be connected directly to the LED output. The new Fast-mode Plus (Fm+) family includes the PCA9685.Fm+ devices enable bus operation with a higher frequency and a greater density of users.

     

    Despite the fact that the PCA9635 and PCA9685 share many features, the PCA9685 is better suited for applications like LCD or LED backlighting and Ambilight.
