The Kenya High Commission and ASSOCHAM in New Delhi collaborated to host an event that marked the introduction of Kenyan avocado to the Indian market. Rich in nutrients, avocados are an excellent source of mono-saturated fats. Avocado has the ability to unite nations and their people and is a symbol of Kenya's history, culture, and feelings.
This will undoubtedly strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations through strong, multifaceted partnerships, and it is considered a turning point in their diplomatic history. Kenya's growing avocado production necessitates more market access. Kenya asked India to grant Kenyan avocados access to the Indian market because of this.
A new avocado variety that promises higher yields, better flavour, and more nutritional value than "most conventional breeds" is about to be planted in Kenya. Compared to most other available varieties, which produce 240 tonnes per hectare, the new variety has been producing over 270 tonnes per hectare. The new avocado may be exported to Europe at a rate of about 4,000 tonnes on average, with the majority going to the Dutch import industry. The Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), which has tested the new hybrid that hasn't been given a name, claims that the variety may go into commercial production.
