A sensor is a device that measures physical input from its surroundings and converts it into data that can be analysed by humans or machines.
A sensor is a tool that generates an output signal in order to detect a physical phenomena. In its broadest sense, a sensor is any device, module, machine, or subsystem that monitors its surroundings and transmits information to other electronics, typically a computer processor.
The Kenya Sensors Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Air quality sensors in a rapidly growing Kenyan city improving health.SEI Africa has started work on a plan to place air quality sensors in the town of Nakuru in Kenya's Rift Valley to assess the health of citizens in rapidly increasing towns.
The effort is part of the SEI Initiative on City Health and Well-being (CHeW), which explores how cities' rapid growth affects inhabitants' well-being and the overall health of city systems.PurpleAir, air quality sensors are being deployed as part of Work Package One's Phase Two.
It aims to connect the operation of the city with the health of its inhabitants by investigating how urban residents live and their experiences as a result of the processes that create urban environments.
In order to monitor real-time PM concentrations for fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10) particles for four weeks to coincide with HRVs, CO, and sound level measurements, the initiative has deployed four PurpleAir (PA-II-SD) sensors across the four sites within the municipality at Nakuru County Environment Department Headquarters, Westside Mall, Nakuru County Water and Sewage Company, and the newly renovated Nyayo Gardens.
For PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 with good data recovery, which is estimated at 95%, PurpleAir PA-II sensors have demonstrated moderate to good accuracy in the past when compared to the reference instrument.
