They are composed of lattices of cations of thelithium,nickel,cobaltandaluminium, where the most important representatives.

 

To make NCA more resistant, in particular for batteries that need to operate at temperatures above certain degrees , the NCA active material is usually coated. The coatings demonstrated in research may comprise fluorides such asaluminium fluorideAlF, crystalline oxides (e.g. CoO,TiO, NMC) or glassy oxides (silicon dioxide) or phosphates such asFePO.
