A thin plastic film often used for sealing and holding food products in containers to keep them fresh is referred to as food plastic wrap, also known as cling film, food wrap, and saran wrap. Individual rolls of plastic wrap are also available, but a roll in a box with a cutting edge is more common. A thin plastic film commonly used for sealing food items in containers to preserve their freshness for a longer length of time is known as plastic wrap, cling film, Saran wrap, cling wrap, Glad wrap, or food wrap. Plastic wrap can maintain its tight fit over a container's opening without adhesive since it sticks to many smooth surfaces and is often sold on rolls in boxes with a cutting edge.
The main purpose of plastic wrap in food packaging is to preserve and protect food. Plastic-wrapped food can keep its freshness and shelf life for a longer period of time. Films for food wrapping are useful in many situations, however it's vital to remember that their use poses serious environmental problems. They increase the amount of plastic waste and the risk of pollution because they are typically constructed of non-biodegradable polymers. Sustainable substitutes, such cloth wraps infused with beeswax or compostable or biodegradable food wrappers made of materials like plant-based polymers, have grown in favor in recent years. These approaches, while seeking to decrease the harmful environmental effects of food packaging, nonetheless provide equal functionality.
The Malaysia Food wrapping films market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Leading chemical company SABIC partners with Scientex in the packaging value chain to help the manufacturer create the first flexible food packaging in the world utilizing SABIC-certified circular polypropylene (PP) and sophisticated recycled OBP. The substance is utilized in the packaging of a high-end brand of noodles sold in Malaysia.
In a sophisticated recycling procedure, the OBP used in the project is recovered and transformed into pyrolysis oil. This oil is used by SABIC as a substitute feedstock to create certified circular PP polymer, which is then processed to create BOPP film. After then, the noodle packs from this film are produced and printed by Scientex. Under established certification processes, the entire chain is seamlessly accredited from the management of the gathered OBP through the final packing.
