To administer oncology and other medications to patients more safely, medical polycarbonate provides excellent durability and chemical resistance to help prevent cracking.
Medical-grade resin products are a crucial component of today’s healthcare system. These materials are specifically designed and produced for medical application, and they abide by all applicable international regulatory standards.
In our situation, their accessibility is assured for a longer amount of time than with regular grades. For more than 20 years, polycarbonate has been utilised in blood oxygenators, blood reservoirs, and blood filters employed in the bypass circuit.
Glass-like clarity is necessary for visual assessment of blood flow and condition throughout the procedure, and the material’s toughness offers the highest level of safety.
The global Medical Disposable Polycarbonate Resin market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
SABIC releases eco-friendly polycarbonate sheet and film products. The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS system has granted accreditation to SABIC’s Functional Forms plant in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands, for producing a new line of LEXAN film and sheet products using verified renewable feedstock.
The company’s new film and sheet product line links to its existing TRUCIRCLE programme and addresses a growing global need for further sustainable material solutions in a circular plastics economy.
Segment Leader Electrical & Electronic Films Europe for SABIC’s Functional Forms division in Bergen op Zoom states, “They are pleased of being the first in the industry to gain ISCC PLUS certification for film and sheet products based on renewable polycarbonate.
The ISCC PLUS accreditation recognises the use of a mass balance accounting system, which tracks the material movement via intricate supply chains from raw materials to finished goods by abiding by clear-cut guidelines. The classification of a product as renewable or circular is then determined by these guidelines.
This means that for SABIC, roughly one tonne of the output material can be categorised as either renewable or circular for every tonne of renewable or circular feedstock supplied into the production process and replacing fossil-based feedstock.
OEMs can document and measure the sustainability of their applications manufactured from these certified materials using the mass balancing approach.
