Miniature Micro-Layer (MML) Film Capacitors are extremely energy dense, reduce component count while saving weight and space. Compared to conventional Polypropylene or Polyester dielectrics, the enormous reduction in size and weight is made possible by an energy density of 400 J/dm3.
The extremely adaptable capacitors operate between -67 and +284°F (-55 and +140°C), have voltage ranges of 50 to 1,000V, and have capacitance ranges of 1 to 1000F.
These characteristics make the MML capacitors ideal for use in confined electronics applications such as power supplies, DC-links, AC/DC/AC power converters, charge/discharge, or power generation functions for commercial and military aircraft, satellite platforms and payloads, launchers, defibrillators, downhole tools, and other devices.
TheGlobal Miniature micro-layer (MML) film capacitor marketaccounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Exxelia describes its new Miniature Micro-Layer (MML) film capacitors as a breakthrough technology that, due to its high energy density, enables significant size and weight reduction. New Yorker Electronics has announced the availability of these capacitors.
The new MML line, according to Exxelia, has an unmatched energy density of 400 J/dm3. In comparison to conventional Polypropylene or Polyester dielectrics, it enables a significant size/weight reduction while increasing operating temperature to 140°C and providing transient voltage protection.
Exxelia MML capacitors thus provide a high degree of design flexibility by making low profile configurations simple. On real controls and DC-Links functionality for aircraft applications, several research studies have been done. All have demonstrated a size and weight reduction of roughly 50% when compared to alternative film technologies.
The comparison to MLCC is even more favourable, demonstrating a weight reduction of between 70% and 90%, no capacitance derating with applied voltage, and a little temperature drift of 5%. With all the greater reliability that film dielectric provides, applications that formerly required clusters of stacked MLCCs can now be replaced by a single MML unit of a comparable size.
With these exceptional qualities, Exxelia's new MML capacitors are ideal for power supplies, DC-links, AC/DC/AC power converters, charge/discharge, or power generation functions of commercial or military aircraft, satellite platforms and payloads, launchers, defibrillators, downhole tools, and any applications of confined electronics.
