A utility uses Mobile Transformer (MTS) systems for a number of purposes. The capacity to deploy MTS systems quickly (12–24 hours), despite the fact that they often have higher costs and larger losses than conventional systems, is a significant benefit for utilities.
This adaptability makes it reasonably simple to move them from one duty to another and is actually a key rationale for the utility to own and run an MTS.
Planned maintenance, brief increases in substation capacity, forced outage repairs, weather and other natural outages, sabotage and attacks are a few possible uses for an MTS.
When necessary, the MTS allows for a temporary restoration of grid service while avoiding damaged substation equipment, giving time to purchase some grid components with a significant lead time.
The Global mobile transformer market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Eastern Green Power Pte Ltd (hereinafter “EGP”), one of Singapore’s EPC companies, has placed an order with Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (hereinafter “Toshiba ESS”) for mobile transformers and related equipment for the urban-type underground substation owned by one of the country’s largest utility companies in Singapore.
For the first 230-kV class urban-type underground substation in Southeast Asia, Toshiba ESS will provide three 200 MVA transformers and four 75 MVA transformers.
The transformers produced by Toshiba ESS at its Hamakawasaki Operations have been created using cutting-edge technology, including insulation, cooling, and structural designs that are exclusive to Toshiba ESS.
Additionally, the transformers will meet the customer’s requirements for the installation of high-capacity transformers that guarantee public safety and environmental compatibility for the city on a small site.
