Myelography is a medical imaging process that is used to see the spinal cord and its surrounding components, namely the spinal nerves and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) spaces within the spinal canal. It entails injecting a contrast dye into the area around the spinal cord, followed by X-ray imaging or other imaging modalities to produce detailed images of the spinal cord and nerve roots.
Myelography is frequently used to diagnose spinal cord and surrounding structural disorders such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and malignancies. The patient's medical history and any allergies to drugs or contrast dyes are examined prior to the treatment. Before the procedure, the patient may be told not to eat or drink for a specified period of time.
Myelography can be conducted using X-ray imaging alone, or in conjunction with other imaging modalities such as computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to obtain more detailed cross-sectional images of the spinal structures. When myelography is combined with CT (CT myelography), the result is called a "CT myelogram," and when combined with MRI (MRI myelography), the result is called a "MR myelography."
Myelography is particularly beneficial for identifying nerve compression problems such as herniated discs or spinal cord malignancies. It enables healthcare workers to directly visualize the spinal cord and nerve roots, which can be very useful when conventional imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs may not provide enough information.
The Global Myelography market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Myelography with Pantopaque and a New Technic for Its Removal. In an effort to create a more suitable medium, ethyl iodophenylundecylate was produced, which is a mixture of isomers generated by adding iodobenzene to ethyl undecylate in the presence of aluminum chloride. In a solid organic mixture, it contains 30.5 percent iodine.
It's known as "Pantopaque." Pantopaque has proven to be an effective contrast medium for spinal myelography in the past. It has a similar opacity and hangs together in a single mass almost as well as lipiodol. The glass ampule that it comes in has 3 c.c., which is ample. Its use has resulted in no adverse responses that the patients are aware of.
